​Working intuitively across layered multi media, I build surfaces through drawing, painting, collage and decorative detail. My backgrounds often come when the main body of the work is done as they have to fit with the work, the frame too is important to each piece, it becomes part of the artwork. Colour, pattern and unexpected combinations are vital to my process: they allow each work to develop its own life and encourage viewers to look slowly, follow small details and discover their own ideas.

At its heart, my practice considers the need for imagination and how we use it. I want viewers to encounter images that are inviting rather than closed, places where humour and wonder can stop you, prompt a memory, or make the familiar feel newly possible. I want everyone to walk away and think “I want that “
